The Eagle’s Cry Reviews: TSITP Season 2

If you’re active on any social platform you have heard of the amazon prime original series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, and the following it has gained over the past two summers. The series is based on the novel trilogy written by Jenny Han released back in 2011, both the show and book series have taken viewers and readers on an emotional roller coaster. The series follows a summer love triangle between Belly and her close friends, who just happen to be brothers, Jerimiah and Conrad. The second season has had mixed reviews, due to new characters and changes made from the books. So let’s find out what BHS thinks of the new season,  and of course ask the burning question: team Jerimiah or team Conrad?

Julia Baumbach a fellow journalist, says, “the second season was kind of a let down, the acting got bad.”

I have to agree with her opinion, the vibes of the first season were simply unmatched.

Junior here at BHS, Eva Nemonitis is, “definitely team Jerimiah, but I still feel bad for Conrad, he just doesn’t treat Belly right.”

After an extensive study conducted over the past week by The Eagle’s Cry, it has been determined that three out of every five BHS students are team Conrad.

In contrast to the first season, the second season’s episodes were released on a weekly basis with episodes that usually ended in cliffhangers. This change has many viewers upset as they prefer binge watching rather than tuning in weekly.

Sophia Lora says, “I definitely prefer the episodes to be released all at once so I can watch it in one day…I hated one episode a week.”

Although some say that the summertime love triangle is an overused plot, teen girls, including myself, can never get enough of it. This season had its flaws, but it was still the light hearted, fun, summer watch that we all need. Don’t worry summer fans, the Cousins Beach crew is set to return to screens for a third season next summer. In the meantime, check out the book series or rewatch your favorite episodes to soak up those last seconds of summer.
