On April 8th, 2026, the LIU Fashion Merchandising Club put on their annual spring fashion show that was another huge success! This year, the show was titled In Bloom. The show itself took place in The Tilles Center on the LIU Post campus, which started in the evening. Before the show started, attendees snacks on some elegant finger foods including small finger sandwiches, small biscotti and cookies and drinks; perfectly elegant food for an elegant show! Another prominent part of the evening was the raffling. Before the show started, attendees were presented with multiple different bags from clothing stores, popular food spots/restaurants and beauty stores such as Ruby and Jenna’s, Pop Up Bagels, Mixology, the popular Roslyn Italian restaurant, Felice, and more. that people can raffle for when they buy tickets. The big raffles were the luxury items including a large Marc Jacobs tote bag, A Yves Saint Laurent bucket bag, as well as gift cards to luxury stores. The room where the displays and fashion show took place was absolutely magical and truly captured the essence of spring in bloom. A pathway on the ground of lights and pedals surrounded the chairs and led the way for the models.
The show started with a beautiful piece played by violinists and a singer, all students from LIU. The singer wore a long, statement black dress, midi length that draped over her shoulders as she sang a beautiful opera piece. The fashion merchandising members then began to walk out one by one. The designs that they wore were not designs made by hand by them, they acted as models and merchandisers for the designs. The violinists played soft music while the members modeled the clothing. Every design truly brought out the spring aesthetic in so many ways. As Miranda Priestly would say “Florals? In spring? Groundbreaking.” These designs and the way the students wore and presented them truly were groundbreaking! There were numerous models and designs, but there were specific pieces that truly captured my eye.

In the beginning of the show the co-president of the fashion merchandising club wore a long, ankle-length black dress with elegant floral embroidery about the dress. I love the statement black contrast to this because when you typically think about florals, you think pastels. The black in this dress worked effortlessly though, still giving off that opening into spring look. The dress sleeves also featured this floral pattern with small and subtle ruffles on them.
I spotted another very whimsical spring look after this that really caught my attention. This student wore an ankle length, delicate satin sage green dress that featured floral embroidery about the neckline and sleeve straps. The flowers were bright pink and dark green. She paired this with a short tote bag with a mix of pastel spring colors such as mint green, cream orange, lilac, light pink and light yellow. This look gave an almost nostalgic feel to spring. It emphasized innocent, fairy-tale and whimsical, yet also statemented, elegant and royal.

The next girl to walk out wore a very relaxed, bohemian look, still embodying the spring color palette. This included a layered, ethereal loose midi skirt with a subtly, solid beige cropped top. She also carried a fringed crossbody to add to this loose, relaxed “boho” feel. The outfit itself evoked a perfect sense of free-spirited elegance. The layered skirt featured a subtle lace pattern about the edges of the layers.
Just a bit later stepped out a “summer’s around the corner” look. The type of thing you’d typically wear in late may or early June. It had a light, European summer feel but also a delicate spring feel. The model wore an ankle length cream sleeveless dress of cotton and paired this with a brown wickered and beaded belt, as well as a matching brown wickered handbag. This was a simple, yet classy look, a relaxed yet classy silhouette. When you think of effortlessly chic European style, this display comes to mind!
Switching gears in style, another model walked out in a more feminine and delicate look. She wore a beautiful and sweet mini dress with delicate pale pink floral print along with a sweetheart neckline, which gives off a very romantic and soft feel. Giving more into the feminine and soft look, yet a seemingly bold piece paired with the dress, the model wore white knitted tights and sand beige sandal heels. The contrast between these pieces ended up working perfectly together, and really embodies a beautiful spring day.
These are just a few of the many fashionable and elegant pieces displayed at LIU’s In Bloom fashion show. Every member of the LIU fashion merchandising club walked in these outfits beautifully. Ranging from early spring softness, to late spring bold colors, the fashion show certainly evoked the blooming aspect of spring.
Once the show had concluded, the raffle then proceeded with a display of fashionable and desirable gifts to give away. The co-president of the fashion merchandising club announced the raffle numbers for every gift. As an attendee of the show, I won the raffle for a $100 gift card to the very popular Italian restaurant in Roslyn, Felice. I recently used this gift card and the restaurant and food were such a unique experience. I sat outside in their outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the Hempstead bay ahead of me.
Honestly I was surprised that those who won the luxury gifts, such as the Yves Saint Laurent bag and the other high end designer items didn’t have as big of a reaction; I’d be jumping out of my skin!
Attendees were able to actually buy the pieces that were displayed during the fashion show afterwards. In addition to that were very trendy boutique shopping items, with Mixology Clothing Company having their own table!

I bought for myself what is now one of my favorite jackets, a light and over-sized navy blue spring jacket that featured a quilted blue floral pattern on the top half of the jacket and included a high-neck collar.
Fashion designer teacher of The Fashionable Stylista, Marcela Pinzon attended the LIU fashion show as well. She expressed that “the production they put on was beautiful and perfectly welcomed spring. I noticed many of the models truly embodied the designs they were wearing, representing their real styles and that is such a prominent part of working in fashion.”
