The Met Gala is an annual and iconic fashion event held at the MET in New York City, with many celebrities attending and displaying fashion in many unique and jaw dropping forms, always on the first Monday of May. The theme of this year’s Met Gala on Monday May 4th, 2026 was costume art. Let’s see some of the looks that debuted on this iconic, fashionable and memorable night! There surely were some looks that caught our eyes.
EMMA CHAMBERLAIN: Emma came to the Met this year as an official red carpet correspondent and special interviewer for Vogue. Even though her job was to interview people, she still made sure her look popped and stood out. She wore a custom Mugler gown designed by Miguel Castro Freitas and hand-painted by artist Anna Deller-Yee Not only did she look great, but her look perfectly encapsulated the theme of the night. One might argue she had the one of the best looks of the night, 10/10.

BAD BUNNY: Bad bunny wore a custom, all-black tuxedo designed in collaboration with Zara, accessorized with an oversized pussy bow, classic timepiece, and a cane. He used this outfit to prove a point and show how the industry doesn’t pay attention to people as they age. This outfit showed a really good message and portrayed a good message while doing so, 9/10.

Lisa: A K-pop artist came to the Met Gala wearing a white sheer dress featuring 3D arms with a crystal veil over her head created by designer Robert Wun designed to match the theme “Fashion is art”. Her veil was meant to symbolize a bride lifting her own veil. The dress itself was a masterpiece made up of 66,960 Swarovski crystals and took around 3000 hours to complete! Overall, some might say her outfit was a 10/10 Met Gala look that matched the theme.
SOMBR: Sombr showed up to the Met Gala wearing a dramatic hand-embroidered cape, a sheer lamé lace top, and tailored trousers. Personally, I don’t think this outfit was a winner. I believe there are many other outfits from this year’s Met Gala that outshined Sombr’s, despite him staying on theme of “Fashion is art”.

CARDI B: Music artist, Cardi B, attended the met gala with an oddly unique outfit. The gown consists of a sheer black lace overlay that spreads across her body and reveals colors such as lavender and pink underneath. The sleeves of the dress were massive and puffed-up, giving a doll-like look. Her choice of footwear showed to be sky-high pink knee-high platform boots that included the label’s signature Kiki line. Personally I think there was too much going on with her look, besides perhaps her hair and makeup. I do not understand what’s going on with the mermaid style hemline of the dress but it reminds me of a pretzel. This outfit is a 3/10.
