For those who love reading, the absolute best Christmas gift is the perfect book. Daisy Jones and the Six released in 2019 by Taylor Jenkins Reid is that gift. Although DJATS is 355 pages, it is definitely a page turner with a fast moving story.

BHS student, Olivia Greenfield says,”I’m not a huge reader but, it was such a good book I couldn’t put it down.”

DJATS follows an up and coming rock band, inspired by Fleetwood Mac and conflicts between Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, in the late sixties-seventies from the formation of the band to their sold out stadium tour. Throughout the novel, readers learn  the true struggle of making it in the music industry and overcoming addiction.

Jenkins-Reid formats her novel in a unique way. The stylistic choice of formatting the novel in a documentary/intervierw style allows readers to hear  all sides and opinions of conflicts between band members. This writing style also translates extremely well to the screen.

The limited Amazon Prime Video series, Daisy Jones and The Six, is a fantastic film adaptation which perfectly captures the time period. The casting of the show is simply perfection. Riely Keough delivers a flawless portrayal of Daisy Jones. In addition, Riley Keough and Sam Claflin have incredible on screen chemistry as Daisy and Billy.

In addition to both an amazing novel and series, the soundtrack to the show is superior to most music produced today.  The fiuctional band became the first scripted artist to reach number 1 on Billboards emerging artist chart.

If you ever find yourself in a reading slump, pick up Daisy Jones and Six. With a Goodreads rating of 4.2 stars and a 4.5 star rating from Entertainment Weekly, it is sure not to disappoint.
