BHS Reviews: The Best and Worst Christmas Movies (Year 2)

BHS+Reviews%3A+The+Best+and+Worst+Christmas+Movies+%28Year+2%29

Christmas time is known as one of the best times of the year. Holiday movies are a large aspect of the magic of the season.

One of my first articles written for The Eagle’s Cry was titled, “Ho! Ho! How Did BHS Rate These Popular Christmas Movies?”, and this year I will be revisiting that same topic.

The Eagle’s Cry sent some BHS students a Google Form on their favorite, and least favorite Christmas movies.

Elf

A very popular movie– and my personal favorite–has to be Elf. This movie takes you along a very interesting storyline that never gets old, as much as you watched it. It has been out for 20 years and has definitely made its impact on people.

Lauren Como likes Elf  because she believes that “it’s hilarious!”

Giselle D’Aleo agrees and adds that the star of the movie, “Will Ferrell is really funny.”

While Giselle and Lauren believe that Elf is the best Christmas movie, Nora Kerrigan disagrees.

Nora expresses that, “in this so-called ‘Christmas classic’”, she believes that “Buddy is simply a fake, incredibly ignorant, elf.”

Home Alone 1

This 1990 classic happens to be one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time.

Lauren Kelly believes that “it’s a classic that is just so funny.”

Gabby Hernandez agrees and thinks “it’s funny and captures the essence of Christmas very well”.

Tara Gyaltsen agrees with Gabby and Lauren being that the movie is very “funny.”

Die Hard

This movie is known for it’s constant debate on whether it’s truly a Christmas movie or not.

It happens to be Mr. Malossi’s favorite movie because it’s “action-packed, [he] love[s] the characters and the debate about whether this is a Christmas movie” makes it so much better.”

The Santa Clause

Tim Allen stars in this amazing trio of movies.

James Mertz likes this movie because “it’s fire”

In contrast to James, Gabby Hernandez dislikes this movie and believes that “they’re boring.”

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

This is one of the best versions of the movie. Jim Carrey wonderfully took on this role as the Grinch and couldn’t have played it any better.

Katie O’Callaghan says that this movie is “fire.”

Haley Flaherty agrees and believes that it’s “amazing.”

Izzy Romero believes that “it’s one of the best movies.”

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Charlie Brown is known for being a very popular character from his various movies. But why this one?

Nora Kerrigan believes that this movie is such “a classic, amazing, mellow movie.”

Christmas Chronicles

This Netflix classic is, at the very least, shockingly good.

Zach Fradella says even though he hasn’t seen it in a while, when he did he “liked it.”

The Polar Express

This movie is probably the best cartoon Christmas movie. It brings happiness to many of all ages.

Joy Kim likes this movie because it “just brings back memories and nostalgia.”

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

It’s rare for a movie to have such a good sequel but this movie never fails.

Madison Lewin says that “it has the best plot” and she loves “the Christmas spirit that surrounds it.”

Julia Baumbach agrees and she says that it’s simply just the “most iconic.”

An Elf’s Story

This movie was my favorite when I was younger, maybe because Elf on The Shelf’s were a staple, or maybe because it’s only like 23 minutes long.

Julia dislikes this movie because it’s “boring.”

Home Alone 3

While the first two movies were an absolute hit, this is where the quality started to decline.

Tara Gyaltsen believes that this movie is just such a “bad remake.”

A Christmas Carol

This is a very iconic movie but the story-line happens to be very over used and in BHS student’s opinion, just simply overrated.

Giselle D’Aleo dislikes it because “its boring and the story line is predicable.”

Katie O’Callaghan believes that it’s “boring and NOT it”, meaning it’s really bad.

James Mertz agrees and says that this movie is “not fire.”

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

This movie is known for being extremely iconic as it entails one of the most famous Christmas icons.

Mr. Malossi choose this movie as his least favorite because of the “bad claymation.”

Overall, it is clear there are many mixed opinions on famous, and not so famous Christmas movies. What do you think?
