Football and soccer are amongst the most popular sports worldwide currently with billion dollar industries, passionate fans, and mass global attention. Demanding the question: Which sport reigns supreme?

This debate goes beyond athletic industries, diving deeper into culture and tradition. Let’s ask some non-players, because all athletes on those sports are biased.

BHS Senior Brandan Kotopka said, “Soccer is filled with way more passion and is more of a worldwide tradition in contrast to American football, which dominates domestically. Personally, I think soccer is the better sport.”

Football seems to be the superior choice at BHS, however. Senior Bridget Ackerman agrees football is better because it is “More entertaining, and soccer is extremely boring.”

Overall in Bethpage, Football is more highly praised, along with most of America. However, this is not the case worldwide. Culture is the greatest factor when it comes to national sports and that is what integrates the athletic industries worldwide.
