BHS Discusses: New Bitmojis

BHS+Discusses%3A+New+Bitmojis

Around last year, the beloved Bitmojis that you are able to customize to your liking, had a drastic change which “updated” its look. Although it’s considered to be an update, most think it was a poor decision.

As a journalist for The Eagle’s Cry, I wanted to get an idea of what my fellow classmates and peers thought of the update. Personally, I miss the old Bitmojis. The new updated look is creepy and makes the characters look weird. They are now 3-D, which makes it worse. They also blink and smile at you if you try to customize them. In my opinion, it’s quite frightening.

Haley Flaherty, a junior at BHS, believes that, “The new Bitmojis are really scary and makes [her] uncomfortable because they blink.” Obviously, the blinking and human-like movements creep many out.

Julia Baumbach, another junior at BHS, let us in on her opinion. “I think they are creepy and they are a false representation of what people look like.” Obviously, the new Bitmojis are sparking rage in many.

Nora Kerrigan, another BHS junior, let us know her opinion. “It gives uncanny valley. I feel like the old ones look better.”

On the other hand, Mr Malossi thought the Bitmoji’s were “really sick” and that he “love[s] the new Bitmojis.” He adds that “you are able to put them into cool new outfits.” Unlike Haley, Julia, and Nora, Mr Malossi claims that the realistic features on the Bitmojis are a cool addition.

It’s evident that many of our fellow students are experiencing terror and rage in response to the new Bitmojis. The public thinks the Bitmojis are a bad idea, even though the Snapchat workers may perceive them as an update.

What do you think? Do you think the Bitmojis are a good idea, or an idea that went horribly wrong?
