Throughout the years, many students have tried to find available Chromebook games that have stayed unblocked. Recently many websites, including games, have been blocked due to the lack of attention some teachers have experienced. Most of the time many students have had extra free time due to the phones not being accessible anymore, so they have looked for an alternative; not many are successful. This moved Bridget and Julia to set out and find the best Chromebook games that gives students a challenge while still being fun and quick to take up some of that free time. They took the initiative to also interview students on which games are their favorites to present the best games out there to the students of BHS.
1) Snake Game
Snake game is a fun interactive game that many students at BHS prefer the most with 19 votes. The objective of the game is for students to control the snake on the screen to guide it to the apples on the green platform. Though catching the apples is the main objective, you also have to guide it to prevent it from hitting itself and the walls, as it grows larger with each apple it eats. This game stands as a fun activity if a student is at lunch and wants a never ending game that you can replay time and time again.
2) Wordle
Wordle is a very vocabulary challenging game many students enjoy with a vote of 14 students. The objective of the game is to guess the word in 6 tries. While guessing words if incorrect (with no same letters as the word of the day) it will come up all gray. If one of the letters in the word that was guessed is in the same position of the word of the day then that letter will come up green to signify you are on the right track. Another hint that the game provides is if one of the letters in the guessed word is in the word of the day, but not in the right spot, it will turn yellow to also signify you are almost there. This game keeps many students occupied for a couple minutes while not only having fun but also learning new words to use in their educational lives.
3) Connections
Connections is a game that challenges the brain and makes students think. At BHS 5 students chose this as the best unblocked game. The main objective is to match all of the words that are in the same category together. You want to try and get the least amount of guesses as possible. If you do get it wrong it will shake and tell you if you are one away. As you do get the answers written they will group together and show the overall category it is. Furthermore, we interviewed teachers to get their point of view of which games they would prefer students to play. Mr. Malossi expressed “I would prefer, if any, my students to play connections because I think it builds synaptic connections.”
4) Globle
Globle is the students least favorite unblocked game at BHS with only 2 votes. This is a very educational game and helps students learn the map of the world. The game is played by guessing any country around the world. As you guess , the country turns either a light red or a dark red. If it is a light red that means that you are far from the country chosen for the day. If it is dark red it means you are closer to the country chosen for that day. It will sometimes provide tips when closer stating the county you guessed is adjacent to the country of the day. Though this game isn’t favored by many, BHS student Michael Gaudio exclaimed “Globleis a highly stimulating intellectual game that keeps my brain functioning at a high level.” Proving that even though it isn’t perceived as the best it still stands as an educational game.
