NFL PREDICTIONS WITH ACKERLY & MERTZ: WEEK TEN

NFL+PREDICTIONS+WITH+ACKERLY+%26+MERTZ%3A+WEEK+TEN

ALERT ALERT! We got a major graphic upgrade! I finally had some time to make a graphic that doesn’t look like it was made in the back of a car in less than 3 minutes…spoiler alert, the old one was. But I hope you guys like this new and improved graphic as it will be the weekly one from this point forward. Enough about the graphic, let’s talk football.

Holy moly, is it really week 10 already? This NFL season is flying by. Enough harping on the quick passing of time…let’s enjoy the moment and not forget what we have left of this season. As always here is Mertz and I with our week 10 predictions, but first let’s see how me and Mertz performed last week.

Last Weeks Locks and Upsets

Once again, I am grouping last week’s spotlight games together. However it is not because me and Mertz swept. It is because for the first time in this illustrious—albeit short—career of the Ackerly vs Mertz NFL Predictions we have a spotlight showdown. I chose the Carolina Panthers as my upset and he chose the Bengals as his lock…I think the Panthers forgot their playbook on the bus. A quarterback confused Carolina was embarrassed and crippled by a Joe Mixon led Bengals team 42-21. But I made up for it, the Kansas City Chiefs—while not by destruction—did squeak past the Tennessee Titans. Plus, Mertz failed to hit his upset when Justin “Might be the Real Deal” Fields was not enough for his Bears to take down the Miami Dolphins.

Total Results

Has hell froze over? I finally got it done. Robbie Ackerly has picked up his first victory of the entire yearly predictions. I finished with a record of 9-4 while Mertz had a record of 7-6. I’ve made up some ground…is this the start of a comeback? The yearly totals now sit at

61-26 and 56-31, still in favor of Mertz

Week 10

With week 9 in the books, let us move on to double digits.

Mertz-o…start this week 10 off right.

Mertz’s Lock of the Week

In a year where the NFL has had so much parody the Chiefs still stand at the top of the league’s standings and they ain’t losing to the sorry Jaguars at home. This is just a small stepping stone on the road to their inevitable deep playoff run.

Mertz’s Upset Alert!

A lot has happened in the Indianapolis Colts organization including owner Jim Irsay going off the wagon and hiring Colts legend Jeff Saturday as interim head coach. The one problem is the only team he’s coached is his son’s high school football team. Sure Jeff Saturday has never called a play in his life but he’s a leader of men that’s what a head coach is for. The Colts will roll in the Sin City and get Jeff Saturday his first win as head coach.

Ackerly’s Lock of the Week

As somebody who lives in New York it has been a great year to be a New York sports fan. Unfortunately I root for the Packers, but that is neither here nor there. The New York Football Giants are 6-2 and are facing an absolutely atrocious Houston Texans team that comes in with a record of 1-6-1. The Giants absolutely overpower the Texans here and will roll through Davis Mills with ease.

Ackerly’s Upset Alert!

We are just three weeks away from the return of the world’s most accused quarterback. The Cleveland Browns currently sit 3-5. They are matched up with a Miami team that on paper, is much better than them. But there’s something about this Browns team that I like..maybe It’s my ownership of Nick Chubb and Amari Cooper in fantasy. I need an upset this week so why not believe in the brownies…but I feel like Orange Cassidy with this one, whatever.
