Are you going away for April Break? If so, make sure you’re at the airport very early! There is a partial government shutdown and a shortage of workers.
Some people are getting to the airport 4 or 5 hours before their flight to prepare for the long security lines. There are over 50,000 workers going to airports working without pay to get people through security and on their flights in time. Since more people are finding out about these lines and waits, airlines are going to end up losing out on money due to people canceling their flights and not booking for the future.
To relieve this issue, ICE agents are taking the place of TSA workers and helping people move through security but the lines remain long.
Senior Rylee Petruskie said “I haven’t been to the airport while the lines are long but I feel really bad for people that don’t know about them and end up missing their flights.
Teacher Mr. Malossi said, “I’ve always been saving for college, and now my kid is in college, so it’s been exclusively stay-cations for the last 20 years. But the lines are ridiculous and out of hand, someone needs to fix it. I have a lot of friends that fly and they also think it’s ridiculous.”
Obviously, these lines are affecting many travelers and there is no answer as to when they will get any better.
