On Sunday, February 1st, the 68th annual Grammys were held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. With many great performances and the coveted awards such as Album of the Year being announced, many artists were recognized for their music. Some on the other hand were snubbed.
Bad Bunny took home Album of the Year for his album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, making Grammy history as the first all Spanish language album to ever win the top prize. In his emotional speech, he paid tribute to his Puerto Rican roots, delivering his speech in mostly Spanish.
Senior Paridhi Miglani shares her excitement for Bad Bunny’s big win: “Well-deserved win and I believe that it is very inspirational that many people of the Latin community are going to such places.”
Although some artists took home many awards, some artists were nominated and walked home with nothing. Sabrina Carpenter was nominated for 6 Grammys, but won none. This shocking news disappointed many Sabrina fans.
Junior Sophia Marullo says, “I love Sabrina Carpenter and I think she was ROBBED from getting at least one Grammy. Especially after performing so well at the Grammy’s, I expected her to win.”
Sophomore Delilah Lasen said, “I think Sabrina Carpenter should have won at least 1 because her album was a big hit this year.”
Senior Julia Steele said, “I think Tate McRae was robbed and I do not think Lady Gaga should have won.”
Our very own Mr. Malossi has a controversial opinion: “I don’t wants to hear opinions from rich, out-of-touch people. I just want to hear good music. However I am very happy that Defying Gravity won a Grammy. Woahaoahaaoahhhh!” (the last two sentences might have been added by Luke Baumbach in a very unethical journalistic move).
This year’s Grammys, or do we say SCAMmys, has left fans both happy and disappointed for their favorite artists. However, we congratulate all the winners for their deserved wins!
