Happy New Year and welcome back BHS!
We hope you enjoyed the lengthy 2 week break and cannot wait to be back in class.
After the new year, many students tend to create resolutions to motivate themselves and get them on track for the year ahead. “New year, new me” holds true with many BHS students this year as they tell us their big and small resolutions for 2026.
A common resolution among students is practicing ways to stay healthy; Grace Miller and Michael Gaudio say they would like to “go to the gym more” this year and “focus on working out.”
Another common resolution among BHS students is to practice their respective sports more. Chase Solliday, varsity lacrosse player, and Gabby Keener, varsity softball player, talk about the importance of pre-season practice. With the spring season coming up, these students hope to start the year by “practicing a few times a week” to get ready.
On the contrary, assistant principal Mrs. Hirsch-Beckman claims she does not believe in New Year’s resolutions and that there is “no such thing.”
Some students have school related goals, hoping to make the most of their junior year. Luke Baumbach hopes to “finish homework on time” for the remainder of this school year. He claims how important junior year is and finishing homework is a vital aspect of grades. Junior Sophia Senra also wants to focus on school this year; however, she would like to “read more books” in 2026. She talks about how for the last few years she has only read assigned books in class, so in the new year she hopes to branch out and read recreationally.
While all these students have different resolutions–big or small–what they all have in common is their motivation to better themselves in some way. We hope all of our students achieve their goals and have a great New Year!
