People often prefer dogs over cats due to their higher level of social interaction, loyalty, and ability to train. Dogs are seen as more eager to please and more expressive– which many owners find rewarding. Dog ownership promotes a more active lifestyle through walking and training.
BHS English Teacher Ms. Baichan said,’’I prefer dogs because they are cute and cats are scary looking.’’
On the contrary, cats are chosen due to their independence; making them lower-maintenance pets that require less space and constant attention. Low-maintenance habits include self-grooming, use of a litter box, and the ability to entertain themselves, which suits busy lifestyles or those who live in smaller spaces such as apartments. Cats do not require daily walks and are often content alone.
A BHS sophomore Delilah Lasen said ’’I prefer cats because they are easier to take care of.”
