How I Met Your Mother follows the story of Ted Mosby, who meets the love of his life and goes through many fun adventures that he describes to his two kids. I have to warn you in advance, this article will contain spoilers for the show, so if you are currently watching or are planning to watch, don’t read ahead. That ending was honestly so disappointing, but I feel like it slightly made sense.
The show ends with Ted’s kids calling him out for really being in love with Robin, and not their mother. Their mother only really gets introduced to the show at the end of season 8. Mind you, the entire show is 9 seasons long. The ending felt so foul.
I asked senior Tara Gyaltsen her thoughts on the ending of HIMYM, which she felt unsurprised by how the show ended, especially because “Ted sounded so in love with Robin every time he would speak of her or their relationship”. After all, it only makes sense to think that way, considering the very first episode introduces Robin, and Ted sounded so in love there.
At the end of the series, viewers find out Ted’s wife dies from cancer. Another senior commented that the ending “was a horrible one because Ted immediately goes for Robin”, almost like he didn’t care that much. In my opinion, the ending threw me off a little bit because I wasn’t expecting Ted to go after Robin again. After all, they did formerly date but they broke up. I personally think Robin and Barney were a better match than Ted and Robin.
