Seniors Rock Their Collegiate Shirts for “Commitment Day”

May 1st was not only “Commitment Day” for high school seniors, it was also college shirt day here at Bethpage High School. The majority of college-bound seniors dressed up in collegiate apparel to show school spirit for their future schools. Even some of the teachers and administrators participated and represented their alma maters.

Senior, Nicole Shkreli likes how college shirt day gave the students a chance to see where their fellow students are going.  “We made a Facebook group where many people commented, but today gives us the opportunity to see where everyone, even those not in Facebook, is going,” Nicole said. “It’s also nice because you can find out people going to the same school as you that you weren’t aware of.”

Math teacher Ms. Garvey likes college shirt day for many of the same reasons. She said, “I love to see where my students will continue their education for the next four years. I’m proud to see how their hard work these past years has paid off. It’s awesome how the teachers participate too. It gives the students a chance to see where all their faculty started out.”

With over 200 students and faculty wearing their school colors, the hallways will be filled with team spirit today.  From the SUNYs to the Southeast, we here at The Eagle’s Cry wish the Class of 2019 the best of luck in their future endeavors.
