As we approach summer, many people beat the heat by buying a scoop of ice cream at their local ice cream shops. A popular and iconic ice cream shop is Ralph’s Italian Ices. Ralph’s Italian Ices has been around for about 90 years, launching dozens of spots across Long Island. During early March, many stores reopened for the new season and will close later in the year during early December. Besides ice cream, their menu consists of water ices, signature sundaes, doughnados, soft ice cream, arctic shakes, thick milkshakes, and fruit smoothies.
Many students at BHS frequently visit Ralph’s Italian Ices when feeling hot and want to cool to cool their taste buds. TEC will break down some delicious and popular flavors that various BHS students have mentioned of Ralph’s Italian Ices that are a must to try on your next visit.
Doughnados:
A signature creamy treat that is combined with edible cookie dough paired with soft-serve ice cream. It also comes with different varieties such as birthday cake, peanut butter, chocolate chunk, and triple chocolate chip brownie. Junior Amanda Schneider said, “I love ordering their cookie dough ice cream, it’s my favorite from the menu.”
Mango Water Ice:
A fruity, sweet, and icy treat as a frozen dairy free dessert. This menu item consists of frozen mango chunks and mango puree. Junior Sam Harman said, “I really love getting their Mango Water Ice, their water ice is refreshing especially when the temperature gets warmer.”
Rainbow Water Ice:
A classic and popular, refreshing frozen treat that has a blended mix of fruity flavors with cherry, lemon lime, and blue raspberry. Senior Michaela Perillo said, “I always get the Rainbow Ice and never switch it up when I go to Ralph’s.”
Coffee Ice Cream:
A rich soft-serve ice cream that is heavily featured in their menu. Junior Jasmin Duran Velasquez said, “I love getting their coffee ice cream when I go to visit, it actually tastes like coffee.”
Raspberry Iceberg:
A signature dessert that combines a creamy, blended Italian ice with a scoop of soft serve. This dessert has two layers: the base layer being raspberry Italian ice that is blended with other ingredients and the top layer being a swirl of vanilla soft serve ice cream. Senior Aria Kim said, “It is very refreshing and I always ate it since I was a kid, so it’s my go to.”
Cake Batter Milkshake:
A popular rich, frozen drink that is made by a blend of cake batter ice cream that is finished with their homemade whipped cream with sprinkles. An anonymous student said, “I love the taste of this milkshake, it tastes just like funfetti cake and I like to get it with chocolate sprinkles.”
