Top 5 Songs In 2021

Throughout April, many artists have begun to get back to their normal daily life. This resulted in the release of many songs that have taken both social media platforms and music apps by a storm. Therefore, here are the top 5 songs for the beginning of April.

  1. “Your Power” – Billie Eilish

One of the most recent songs to be dropped, Billie Eilish has once again made her way to the top of the charts. Released on April 29th, “Your Power” was the first single from her new album Happier Than Ever. The full album is to be on July 30th and fans are very excited based on the first new song on this album. “Your Power” is number one on the charts right now with a YouTube video that is going viral. Billie Eilish is known for her soft yet powerful lyrics and has definitely shown in this song. Even Billie Eilish herself stated that “This is my favorite thing I’ve ever created and I am so excited, nervous, and EAGER for you to hear it” on her Instagram account. She also stated that “This is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. I feel very vulnerable putting this one out because I hold it so close to my heart”. Fans are definitely excited to hear more of her songs that are slowly coming out. Hopefully the songs are just as meaningful and impactful as this one is and Billie Eilish continues to release songs like this. Her fans will not be disappointed and this song earned its way to the first place spot.

  1. “Peaches” – Justin Bieber (Daniel Caesar and Giveion)

This song, by Justin Bieber and featuring artists such as Daniel Caesar and Giveion brought listeners a perfect start to the summer song. The beat as well as the sound makes you want to listen to the song over and over again. It has been a while since Justin Bieber has released a song or even an album. “Peaches” has become one of the most popular songs on his Justice album as well as bringing him some attention after his long break. This song has definitely earned its way to the top five lists and even taking first reveals how much his “beliebers”  really love his music.

  1. “Drivers Licence” – Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo, an 18 year old artist, recently took over all social media platforms due to this song. She debuted on Disney and appeared in the show High School Musical: The Musical, but her fame grew overnight with this song. There were several hidden meanings within the song against another artist (Sabrina Carpenter) all over social media platforms. Many fans knew about them and resulted in the song gaining more popularity after Sabrina Carpenter released the song Skin as a back up against Rodrigo’s accusations. Everywhere you went, someone knew about this song and the drama. Other than the drama, this song is really good and very catchy. “In the beginning of the song it has the start up of a car engine and you hear the boop boop kind of noise. I feel like that is really cool and it’s an interesting and artistic approach to the song”, says Ella Walsh, a junior at Bethpage High School. It is very heartfelt and almost everyone has definitely heard this song once.

  1. “Astronaut in the Ocean” – Masked Wolf

“Astronaut in the Ocean” is a new song that has been all over Tik Tok. Users have used the song in the back of their posts while they are doing dances or showing off a skill that they have. Masked Wolf is also a new artist and has taken his song to the top four spots. It is catchy, entertaining, and interesting to listen to. “The chorus is really catchy and it is a good mix between indie and rap” says Santina Lonardo, a junior at Bethpage High School. Hopefully Masked Wolf continues to release more music like this since it is so different and many people enjoy hearing it.

  1. “Calling My Phone” – Lil Tjay and 6LACK

Personally one of my favorite songs on the top five list, Lil Tjay recently released this song featuring 6LACK. This hip-hop/rap song is unlike any of the other songs up on this list. It has a slower feel to it yet the lyrics are very heartfelt and emotional. Lil Tjay added this song to his Destiny 2 Win album released on April 2nd. Almost all the songs on there have become hits and Lil Tjay has risen to more popularity than ever before. Often only debuting in features, Lil Tjay gained the recognition he deserves. His voice is projected through his album along with the real lyrics shown within. Therefore, this song is one of the strongest on this album and the feature of 6LACK ties both of their voices together very well. It has definitely earned its spot on the top five and I hope that there are more songs like this in the future
