Why did Tobey Maguire stop playing Peter Parker in Spider-Man?
Have you ever wondered what happened to the original “Peter Parker?”
Tobey Maguire played Peter Parker in Spider-Man 1, 2 and 3, and with Spider-Man 2 being a Oscar winning movie, what happened? Well, Spider-Man 3 was a fail, with the expectations being too high from the second Spider-Man, the movie was just not good enough overall. Maguire was out.
Junior J.P. Cheslowitz said Maguire “shouldn’t be in any more Spider-Man movies because he’s messed up too many times.”
In fact, Sam Raimi, the producer of the movies, tried to make a fourth movie but it was canceled because he couldn’t finish the script in time, and it went downhill from there.
Also, Maguire got linked to an illegal poker club with other famous actors and was fined for it. Finally, another reason is that he has a childish face, and it was hard to make a more mature movie when he still looked young.
Afterwards, Maguire started acting in other movies such as The Great Gatsby. Now he is around 40 years old and married, has two kids and doesn’t plan to continue his career in acting.
