On Tuesday, May 26th, The New York Knicks swept the conference finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a score of 130-93. They won all four games in the series and are moving on to the finals. The last time they made it to the finals was in 1999 and they haven’t won the finals since 1973 so, this is a big deal for them.
At the start of the game, they maintained a ten point lead but it kept increasing. OG Anunoby scored 17 points and Karl-Anthony Towns scored 19. They were catching rebounds left and right. It almost seemed the Cavaliers gave up after the first quarter.
BHS Senior Michael Gaudio said, “I’m very very happy, I’ve been watching the Knicks for my whole life. Jalen Brunson is my sweet king and Landry Shamet is the most underrated shooter in the league. I would do anything for the Knicks to win the championship. And Josh Hart has my heart.”
BHS Senior Brandan Kotapka said, “I hate basketball, but if they win I’m gonna go to the city with my friends.”
BHS English teacher Mr. Malossi said, “I remember the last time they were in the finals, I was playing the guitar in some Long Beach bar and watching the Knicks lose to the Spurs on the TV. Twenty-something years later, this team is way better than that. Although, I do fear the western conference.”
Hopefully, the Knicks will win the finals; everyone here is rooting for them, even Brandan…who doesn’t particularly like the sport.
