BHS Talks: Jack Hughes’ Injury

BHS+Talks%3A+Jack+Hughes+Injury

Jack Hughes is known as being one of the most famous, young hockey players of our generation. While Hughes is known for being liked for his looks by non-hockey fans, his playing style can not be overlooked.

Unfortunately for Devils fans, Hughes was hurt and is now “week-to-week” with an “upper-body injury” after a hook from St Louis Blues defenseman, Torey Krug on Friday, November 3rd, 2023.

The Eagle’s Cry interviewed teachers and students on their reaction to Jack Hughes’ injury.

Firstly, we asked Mr. Malossi and Mr. Costa, their opinions on the news.

The Eagle’s Cry– “What are your opinions on Jack Hughes’ injury?”

Mr Malossi says “I’m happy about it. But no, I don’t like to see any good players go down but, I will say this–as a Rangers fan–it makes it a little easier to beat the Devils. So, I do not like to see injuries to star players. Star players make the league better to watch, everything else, and make the game better. So I’m ultimately sad about it but a little tiny part of my heart is happy.”

Mr Costa believes that “He’s one of the best players in hockey right now and New Jersey’s gonna have a lot of issues filling his scoring output.”

A freshman at BHS, Billy Wendel says that the injury is “pretty unfortunate and that the Devils need him.”

A BHS senior, Tyler Wodicka believes that it’s “tragic” and adds that “he’s a very good hockey player”. But regardless of that, Tyler adds that he’s “an Islanders fan and the Devils are also in the Metro and them losing one of their best players is pretty big for [the Islanders].”

Other BHS seniors such as Jake Kelly and Matteo Bellise don’t like Jack Hughes. Jake believes that “Hughes is a bum” and that he doesn’t care about his injury. Matteo adds that he also doesn’t like “Jack Hughes or the Devils” as a whole.

This makes sense since Hughes is not as much of an enjoyable player when not a fan of an opposing team.

While we are not Devils fans, it is fun to watch Jack Hughes when he is not playing our favorite team. Wishing Jack Hughes a speedy recovery!
