Many wonderful teachers here at BHS help students become the best they can be, and today The Eagle’s Cry will be recognizing our Top 10 favorite teachers. Disclaimer: This list is in no particular order, and is ONLY the opinion of our editorial staff.
Ms. Bennett- She’s everyone’s favorite yoga teacher who definitely makes an effort to get to know her students. There’s never a dull moment in yoga with Ms. Bennett, and she has everyone looking forward to class. Eva Neamonitis, who has had Ms. Bennett for two years in a row, said, “she is really fun and is always trying to get to know everyone!”
Mr. Barden- He’s a favorite Spanish teacher at BHS and always makes class so much fun. Also, he always gives out lollipops to current and past students. Barden is also a freshman class advisor, and if you’d like to hear some of his tips for new high school students, feel free to check out our article Barden’s Advice for Freshmen.
Mrs. Calio- She’s a favorite Italian teacher who cares deeply for all of her students and never fails to tell a good story. Zach Fradella, her former student of two years, said, “Ms. Calio’s a great teacher and makes the lessons fun with personal stories.”
Mrs. Livingston- One of the best English teachers here at BHS. She makes it very easy to enjoy English class through fun projects and assignments. “She is very nice and fair to all students,” said Julia Baumbach, a former student.
Mr. Walsh- If you’ve had him for one of your math classes, then you know: Mr. Walsh’s a great teacher who makes lessons easy to understand by breaking them down. If you’d like to know more about him, feel free to read Eva Neamonitis’ article about Mr. Walsh
Mr. McCoy- You’ve probably seen Mr. McCoy in the hallways or have had him for a Social Studies class or elective. Mr. McCoy is one of the funniest teachers at BHS and will always make you laugh, even during history lessons.
Ms. Bertolotti- If you didn’t have her for Reading-Writing-Research, then you might have had her for English. Her style of teaching allows all students to express themselves through writing and be creative. Teachers like Ms. Bertolotti make it easy for students to learn, and she makes class enjoyable.
Mr. Lynch- Again, one of the funniest teachers at BHS, you’ll always find yourself laughing during his lessons. He’s never afraid to share details and pictures from his life in order to help students understand the lesson better. If you know him, then you know he LOVES George Washington, and if you see him in the hallways, don’t be afraid to say hi.
Mr. Tauriello- He makes chemistry easy to learn through engaging lessons. Class with him is always fun, and he is never afraid to share a crazy story or opinion. Nora Kerrigan, his current student of two years, says, “Mr. Tauriello’s one of my favorite teachers that I’ve ever had, and I took Health Sciences just to have him for a second year.”
Mr. Malossi- The Eagles Cry’s very own advisor and also a teacher of many other classes, including TV News and Production, Mr. Malossi makes an impact on so many students’ time at BHS. Whether you had him for an English class or an elective, Mr. Malossi is always around the hallways, ready to make your day better. You should by no means suspect that he forced us to put him on this list (please help us!).
As we can see, Bethpage High School has some of the best teachers out there, always willing to help students with lessons or even just personal issues. All teachers at BHS, even those not on this list, are great teachers.
