NFL PREDICTIONS WITH ACKERLY & MERTZ: WEEK SEVEN

Time really flies when you’re watching football. Welcome to week seven and the fourth iteration of the Ackerly vs Mertz weekly NFL predictions. You know how we start off these articles, let’s recap week 6.

Last Week’s Locks

One was right, the other was wrong. Mertz unfortunately was the latter in this one when he picked the Green Bay Packers to defeat the New York Jets, sadly the Packers were embarrassed as their beginning season woes continued. I however picked the Los Angeles Rams to defeat the Carolina Panthers—they did so—with a convincing 24-10 victory.

Last Week’s Upsets

Guess what pair of sports journalists got both their upsets right…these guys! The Atlanta Falcons and the Pittsburgh Steelers both pulled it off this week as Mertz and I went 2/2 on our upset predictions.

Total Results

Rough week for myself…8-6 is the worst either of us have done all year, Mertz kept up his winning ways with an outstanding 10-4 record.

With that, it brings the yearly totals to 35-10 and 28-17

Week 7

Week 6 is in the books, let’s move onto week 7

Mertzy, start us off.

Mertz’s Lock Of The Week

Although I am not a Giants fan, as a proud New Yorker I am all in on what the Giants have been doing so far. At 5-1 they’ve the metropolitan area hyped and that hype train will only get bigger this week as they soundly beat the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mertz’s Upset Alert!

The Detroit Lions have underperformed even for the their standards this year. What was seen as a possible season of winning and young stars leading the way it has been nothing short of heartbreak. But that ends on Sunday! Head Coach Dan Campbell knows he’s on the hot season and he needs his boys to get a W so he can keep his job. My pick? The Lions go into JerryWorld and upset the Cowboys.

The Rest Of Mertz’s Picks

Arizona Cardinals def. New Orleans Saints

Baltimore Ravens def. Cleveland Browns

Tampa Bay Buccaneers def. Carolina Panthers

Cincinnati Bengals def. Atlanta Falcons

New York Jets def. Denver Broncos

Tennessee Titans def. Indianapolis Colts

Green Bay Packers def. Washington Commanders

Las Vegas Raiders def. Houston Texans

LA Chargers def. Seattle Seahawks

Kansas City Chiefs def. San Francisco 49ers

Miami Dolphins def. Pittsburgh Steelers

New England Patriots def. Chicago Bears

Thanks Mertz, now it’s my turn.

Ackerly’s Lock Of The Week

Last week Mertz bet against Brady, and it paid off. This week however I’m bettin’ on the devil. As much as I hate Tom Brady I got to respect him, 45 years and counting and here he is still playing football at the highest level possible. The Bucs play against a Carolina Panthers team that is just no good. Tampa should handle this one with ease.

Ackerly’s Upset Alert!

Two teams are coming off a bye in this one, the Raiders and the Texans are having a battle to have more than a singular win in this one. The run game is gonna be huge here as both teams have elite ground games with the emergence of rookie Dameon Pierce and the reemergence of Josh Jacobs. The Texans however are coming off their first victory and are facing a Raiders team that can’t get out of their own way. I’m riding with everyone’s favorite long necked QB Davis Mills.
