On November 19, 20, and 21st, the Bethpage High School Masquers’ Guild put on a spectacular performance of Get Smart under the direction of Mrs. Jessica Sinisi. Also producing the show were Stage Manager/Producer Ms. Michelle Kovacs, Stage Designer Dr. Leon Petruzzi, and Technical Director Mr. Robert Verdi.

Get Smart follows C.O.N.T.R.O.L agent Maxwell Smart (Agent 86)–played by sophomore Marco Cunha–and his partner, Agent 99–played by junior Erin Jedd–on a journey to protect a dangerous device called the “inthermo” from KAOS, saving the world along they way. KAOS is an evil organization led by Mr. Big, who plans on using the inthermo to blow up the Statue of Liberty.

The entire cast did an amazing job, led by Marco Cunha, who perfectly portrayed his character’s witty and quirky personality.

Senior Emily Dean said, “I thought it was really upbeat and funny, and I loved the energy Marco brought to the stage.”

The large audiences seemed absolutely captivated by the entire cast’s performance. Everyone on stage was clearly having the time of their lives. Two months of hard work paid off.

The AV team, sound crew, and stage crew outdid themselves by all accounts. The sets and lighting worked seamlessly, while the sound effects were so realistic that they tied everything together. The stage crew’s set-up between scenes was well-rehearsed. They all must have worked extremely diligently to make sure everything ran smoothly backstage and during every scene.

The crowd roared with laughter and applause for the performance given by the twenty-four Masquers’ Guild members. The show was a hit, and everyone who came to see it and supported the cast members fell in love with the funny show. Altogether, it was an unforgettable performance by the Bethpage Masquers’ Guild. Now, onward to the Spring musical!
