TATBILB vs. TSITP
The two astoundingly popular pieces of fiction (The Summer I Turned Pretty and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) by the award winning Korean-American Author, Jenny Han, have been very popular topics of conversation through the years.
The first movie of the series, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before came out August 17th, 2018 with the next two movies coming out in the years after. This movie was automatically a hit, winning over 3 awards in the year after its release. The next piece by Jenny Han called The Summer I Turned Pretty came out on June 17th, 2022. This quickly became a popular show with over 25 million people watching it within the first seven days of its debut.
Even though both shows are great and have gotten amazing recognition and fame, some people still say that one is better than the other. There are many different reasons as to why people have different opinions on the two shows. It can be a reason as simple as not liking the main characters or the plot but that can also be argued as reasons as to why they like the shows.
We interviewed two different students at Bethpage Highschool and asked for their options. Both of our students have watched both of the series and this is what they have to say about it,
Our first student, Feyza Cihan, said that she would rather watch To All The Boys I’ve Loved before rather than The Summer I Turned Pretty. She didn’t have any extremely specific reasons for her opinion, but she did say that she would rather watch TATBILB because she
“likes the plot of the movies more and [she] does not like Belly while [she] loves Lara Jean.”
Our second student, Kritiana Peters, said that she would rather watch The Summer I Turned Pretty. She had a very strong opinion on it saying that “TSITP is better than TATBILB because the show has more plot twists and is overall more dramatic. Even though TATBILB has a lot of twists, turns and drama, TSITP has more, therefore I think it’s more interesting.”
There’s two very torn opinions on the matter, let us know what you think!
