Here at Bethpage High School, teachers have many hobbies they enjoy. After a long day of lesson planning and teaching, they either go home and spend time with their family, go out to dinner, or engage in a fun activity that they love. The Eagles Cry interviewed multiple teachers on their favorite hobbies after school and why.
Mrs. Oak said “I like to play beach volleyball, I like to go to the gym and take classes like pilates, I like to try new restaurants, I like to ride my bike with my kids at field 5 on the bike trail, I like to go to concerts or live music…even if it’s just a guy playing a guitar.” When asked why she likes to do these activities, she said “mostly because I don’t like sitting at home and I get bored easily…if you don’t have things to do that make you happy that relieve stress, your life doesn’t feel fun. I like to do things for myself that I enjoy. For example if you wake up, go to work, cook dinner, do more work, and then go to bed at 10pm, you’re not doing anything for yourself.” Mrs. Oak is very passionate about having a good time and not spending your entire life on work, she wants to make sure her family as well as her are always happy and enjoying themselves.
Mrs. Comunale said “I like to hang out with my kids, go on my peloton, I love to travel with my family, go to the beach or do anything that is outside. I love being outdoors, it doesn’t matter what it is.” We asked Mrs. Comunale what her favorite vacation was and she said “ My favorite place I have traveled is Aruba because I loved the beaches, they were beautiful. I also loved the food there. It was amazing.”
Mr Portuese said “ I love to be out on the water and watch the sunrise. I love to go on my boat because I love to fish out on the water. When I am home I love to take care of my chickens.” When asked why, he said “the sunrise is beautiful and when the sun comes up it lights up the sky.”
Mrs. Russo said, “I like beach volleyball, golf, and going out to dinner because I have fun doing them. I like to eat, and be outside!”
After teaching all day, teachers at Bethpage High School love spending time outdoors and doing fun activities. When we asked who these teachers enjoyed doing their hobbies with, many said their kids and family. Teachers enjoy using their time outside of their job to hangout with their kids and doing fun family activities.
