In early 2025, Netflix released a docuseries called “Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing.” The show focused around 17-year-old influencer Piper Rockelle and the 11 former members of her squad, the complaints and lawsuits they filed, including the abuse allegations towards her mother, Tiffany Smith. The episodes revealed Piper’s rise to fame and helped to bring awareness about the line between parenting and managing an online career, through providing the many perspectives of the squad members.

2 months after the series was released, Piper finally spoke out and broke the silence about whose side she was on. She defended her mother and “shut down questions about abuse accusations.” She also stated that her former friends weren’t making things up, but rather stretching the truth. She also decided to wait to answer other questions, including ones about sexual assault, until she felt she was at an appropriate age to. Both Piper and Tiffany denied most of the allegations that they were accused of. From Piper’s opinion, fans were envious and jealous of her and her mothers relationship, and that is why they want Tiffany taken away. Based on the stories and episodes posted, it seems like her mother was in control, although Piper was supportive of her mother and never viewed her as the villain.
