Growing up in a bustling house with her big family, BHS Sophomore, Elizabeth Trimarco, experienced what it’s like having a dish so familiar to her and her family.
This special dish originates from Italy and consists of tiny star shaped pasta mixed with butter, olive oil, and occasionally chicken stock. This dish is commonly served as a light meal or a side dish at Elizabeth’s family gatherings.
Elizabeth said, “This dish was something my family would always eat and I basically grew up with it.” Since Elizabeth grew up eating this food, it has become a staple in her house. She joked, “It’s really easy to make, that’s why I make it.”
Through special meals with her Grandfather, who grew up in Italy, she is able to connect by translating words and listening to his stories. Elizabeth’s story emphasizes the impact food has on binding families together.
By sharing Elizabeth’s story, I hope people make their own special connection to their identity through their favorite foods. If you would like to share your own story, please email me! ([email protected])
