With our school’s guidance counselors meeting with us to figure out our schedule and plans for next year, Bethpage’s juniors are beginning to focus on senior year and college applications.
Since the course registration opened a few weeks ago on Infinite Campus, I have spoken to many of my friends and asked them what classes they had signed up for. It seemed to me that we all had one thing in common: Our classes seemed to correlate with what they wanted to study in college or their dream job. Everyone seems to already have an idea of what they want to major in, so I went around my Journalism class, asking my fellow juniors what their future plans were.
As the current News Editor, I hope to attend an East Coast school and double major in journalism and international relations, with the goal of pursuing a career in either field.
Our current Opinion Editor, Paridhi Miglani, is looking to attend either Long Island University or Baruch College to study business, and hopes to someday become a financial analyst.
Another future business major, Abby Scully seeks to go to Baruch College. Through this, she plans on pursuing a career in marketing or finance.
Samreen Ghotra plans to study at a university close to home, with aspirations of becoming a doctor or dentist.
Caithynn Rivas is also exploring the possibility of going into the medical field. She is currently going through options on where to go to college such as New York or North Carolina. In the future, she aspires to be a nurse practitioner.
Mateo Alvarez is looking at schools in North Carolina, where he hopes to major in sports management and someday have a career in that field.
It seems as though all the eleventh grade staff in the Eagle’s Cry seem to have big plans for the future. With senior year coming closer and closer, it’s nice to see everyone have a clear view of what they want to do.
