The Girls Varsity Basketball season is already starting which is exciting for both the new and the rerunning members. Each of these members are unique in their own aspect and some have opinions on practices, stretches, or the member’s personality within the team.
Some of the basketball members are excellent players as a forward or a guard, others excel in terms of music taste. Perhaps there’s also some seniors who want to continue playing basketball on a college level or go to the WNBA. The Eagles Cry interviewed Girls Varsity Basketball coach Mr. Fisher, and BHS senior Lauren Kelly.
TEC: Who’s the next Maya Moore on the team and why?
Mr. Fisher: “Kate Cusack, she’s a good leader. On the younger side, Lily Pfeffer is good”.
Lauren Kelly: “Kate Cusack because she has played a major role in the team since freshman year.”
TEC: Would any members of the team continue to play basketball at college level?
Mr. Fisher: “Kate Cusack could, Lily Pfeffer, a freshman has a chance to play basketball at college”.
Lauren Kelly: “Lily Pfeffer, a freshman, possibly wants to play at college level”.
TEC: Would any of the members attend a women’s basketball game?
Mr. Fisher: “Two years ago we went to see Paige Bueckers play at UCONN and last year we saw Caitlin Clark play at Iowa”.
Lauren Kelly: “We took a trip to Rutgers to see Rutgers vs. Iowa and we got to watch Caitlin Clark play”.
TEC: Favorite women’s basketball player and why?
Mr. Fisher: “Caitlin Clark because she’s a really good player and she scored a lot of points and has a lot of assists. It shows that she involves the team a lot”.
Lauren Kelly: “Paige Bueckers from UCONN. I love her style of playing and she’s a very great leader for her team”.
TEC: Who can you actually trust with the aux?
Mr. Fisher: “Christie Azer and she plays upbeat music which gets the girls going”.
Lauren Kelly: “Christie Azer, she’s our manager so she plays music for us everyday.”
TEC: What’s your/the team’s least favorite drill?
Mr. Fisher: “Eleven man is their favorite drill, but their least favorite drill has to be the conditioning drills. It involves running”.
Lauren Kelly: “80 in 1 it’s where you have to get 80 passes in a minute”.
