The start of a new season is always exciting because that means new clothes and new accessories for school, special events, and everyday activities. For people really into fashion, it could also mean watching the latest fashion shows and reading the latest fashion magazines. Although fall tends to be one of the most popular seasons for fashion, It’s a change from short sleeves, skirts, light-weight clothing, shorts, and sandals to sweaters, trousers, boots, and coats. This season also means back-to-school shopping, which gives many opportunities to get stylish clothing for the season of your choice.
Now in October, the middle of fall, girls around school seem to usually be wearing leggings, flared or baggy jeans, cashmere and knitted sweaters, sweatshirts, sweatpants, UGG boots, and UGG slippers. Boys are usually wearing t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and sneakers. It’s definitely always comfy attire for school. But, outside of school, lots of popular styles this fall consist of plaid and denim skirts, knee-high boots in colors black, brown, and maroon, and the knee-high socks underneath those boots are popular as well. Suede fabric, leather jackets, turtlenecks, tote bags, wool coats, trench coats, blazers, and patent leather shoes are also some very big trends this fall, and most of these pieces have been for years.
October and November are usually the ideal months for fall fashion, but mostly October because the air is cold enough, though not to the point where you need to take out your winter coat. Usually during this time is where you’ll see the most fall colors and fall fashion. September clothing is usually more in between summer and fall, but you’re definitely going shopping for boots and sweaters, not shorts and sandals during September.
Everyone has their own style, and for some it could differ for the colder or warmer times of the year. It is very interesting hearing BHS’s thoughts on this—what they are wearing this fall or what they want to wear. A sophomore, Elizabeth Trimarco, says her ideal fall outfit is a flannel shirt in browns and oranges, baggy jeans, and UGG boots. She also loves the “Rory Gilmore look,” which is the oversized cream knit sweater, leggings, and a cute pair of fall sneakers. Another sophomore from BHS, Caryn Cho, says an outfit she wants to wear this fall consists of flared jeans with a cozy oversized sweater and Dr. Martens shoes. This reporter has and plans to continue wearing lots of maroon, pleated skirts, and stylish fall jackets and coats.
Though October is going fast, there are still more opportunities for this month-and-a-half to show off your style for fall!
