The spooky season is here, and many of the BHS students are planning on what to do for this upcoming Halloween. But there’s been a recent debate on what the age limit should be for trick-or-treating. Do high school students think that trick-or-treating is too childish? Or do some high schoolers still find trick-or-treating a fun activity with friends that gets them free candy?
Multiple news sources, such as USA Today, discuss the debate on whether or not there is or should be an age limit to trick-or-treating, but I think that the debate should be up to the kids themselves. An anonymous BHS student shares their opinion on the subject, arguing that,”The age shouldn’t matter, just have fun with your friends. It’s the spirit of Halloween.”
Although, not every BHS student agrees. Another anonymous student has quoted that trick-or-treating is “stupid” and shares that “we outgrew it.” Another BHS stupid adds on to this counterargument, emphasizing that “we should be the ones giving out the Halloween candy, and spreading the Halloween magic.”
After asking some more students about trick-or-treating, the debate still seems to be a diverse argument; however, that shouldn’t stop anyone from doing what they believe is fun on Halloween. If you enjoy trick-or-treating, even if you are in highschool, you should enjoy hanging out with your friends and getting free candy. Have a happy Halloween!
