It’s a new school year, which means all of the Bethpage High School students are joining new or previous clubs. One club that is back in full gear is the Bethpage Masquers Guild, aka the drama club! This year, it is presenting “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” for the fall play. To gain more attraction towards this year’s drama season, I figured I’d get a sneak peek behind the scenes of the fall play and what the drama club is all about.
Haley Flaherty, one of the officers for the drama club, discusses the new fall play and the drama club itself. “It’s a great club to join, everyone there is very friendly and supportive of each other”. Haley also mentions parts of the new play without sharing too many spoilers. “It’s a very interesting play, full of surprises and a shocking turn of events. I think everyone should come see the show this November”.
The drama club has been a fun and engaging after school club that builds teamwork and friendships, as well as enhancing acting skills. The club itself is full of determined actors who put in effort every rehearsal to provide the school an amazing performance. Our drama club is fortunate enough to be able to put on both a play in the fall, and a musical in the spring! If you’re ever looking for a committed, creative, and social club to join, drama club is the perfect place for you.
Ava Mirabelli, the president of the drama club, shares her opinion on the play. “I think people will like the play this year because it’s a comedy”, she says. I mean, who doesn’t love a good comedy show? Ava also talks about the club, describing that,” it’s like a family”. She goes into detail by saying,” I mean, all the freshmen are welcomed by the upperclassmen. We’re all close friends here.”
After collecting some more information on the fall play this upcoming year, I think that this fall play will be as interesting and intriguing as the drama club students say it will be. I recommend that everyone come see the shows this November, and find out the truth behind this shocking murder mystery. Congratulations to all the actors on their roles for the play; good luck and break a leg!
