Although many people have mixed feelings about the writer Colleen Hoover, there is no doubt her books have a special place in her readers’ hearts. It Ends With Us stars the protagonist, Lily Bloom, a young and creative woman who opens up her own flower shop following a tragedy that occurred in her family. She falls in love with Ryle, a neurosurgeon, and they begin to have a “picture- perfect relationship”.

It Ends With Us was perceived to be very inspirational which led to its adaptation into a movie. Despite the book’s positive reviews, many of Hoover’s beloved “fans” have voiced that the movie was unsatisfactory.
This could be due to the alleged drama between the main protagonists of the film. Director and starring actor Justin Baldoni and starring actress Blake Lively had been rumored to have had issues because of their different accounts on the film.
Tiktok users have pointed out the different manners in which the actors have described their characters, for example Blake Lively seemed more to take an interest in the personal aspects of Lily Bloom. For example, she has been known to emphasize the outfits and the goals of Lily Bloom in the story. On the other hand, Baldoni has been more vocal on how the movie should be inspirational in learning how to overcome trauma and how to have empathy for others.
Overall, despite the drama and controversy surrounding the film, the film has done its part in shedding light to a difficult conversation.
