On Wednesday, September 12th Bethpage Baseball began their winter workouts. As players eagerly walked into the barn 7 months before the season started, many around the school wondered why so early?
The team struggled last season finishing 4 and 15 while missing the playoffs. That being said, players and coaches are willing to put in the work early so that they can lock up a playoff spot this coming season.
Early practices see pitchers throwing bullpens and working on mechanics, fielders working on their “everydays,” and all sorts of hitting drills to get the bats working long before the first pitch.
Junior outfielder Timmy Conlin expressed his excitement for this year. He said, “I am really looking forward to this year. We have a good roster filled with alot of young and old players. The practices help us to get ready for the coming season!”
With the season coming up, it’s clear that the players are excited.
