BHS Discusses: Top 5 Summer Activities

BHS Discusses: Top 5 Summer Activities

Summer is just around the corner, which means the students at Bethpage High School are eagerly thinking about their summer plans this year, and what they will be doing.

Beach

The beach is the perfect place to be in the summer. You can cool off in the ocean, watch a sunset or play games with your friends. Abby O’Hara, a junior at BHS, claims that the beach is the best place in the summer to “chill with [her] friends.”

Theme Parks

Going to a theme park is a fun and exciting way to enjoy time with your friends to beat the summer heat, going on fast and tall roller coasters to feel the wind. Many people go to Six Flags, or somewhere closer; like Adventureland. Eva Neamonitis, a junior, believes that “theme parks are so much fun, but [she] wishes that there was a better one closer.”

Tanning

Many students at BHS love going outside to get a nice summer tan. Although excessive sun exposure is associated with several health risks, ultimately if people are safe and use sunscreen, tanning can be less dangerous. Giselle D’Aleo, a BHS junior, acknowledged that “tanning is a fun way to get vitamin D” during the summer, but she brought up how “[she] just sunburned this past weekend.”

Swimming

Swimming is the perfect activity for a hot summer day. A junior at BHS, Janna Shariff, described how she loves “taking a dip in the pool.” She thinks it is a great way to “cool off” when the weather is nice outside.

Waterparks

While some have mixed reviews about water parks, they are still a fun way to cool off with friends and enjoy the water rides at the park. Some fun water parks are Splish Splash, Kalahari and Hersheypark. Zach Fradella claimed that “water parks are fun” because “there are a lotta slides.”
