This Sunday, February 11, people all over the country celebrated the Superbowl LVIII (58). Some love the game, some love the commercials, but others (especially us here at The Eagle’s Cry) look forward to the halftime show.
This year, Usher performed in the halftime show. There have been many disagreements on whether or not his performance was up to par. The Eagle’s Cry interviewed some students or teachers at BHS on their opinions.
BHS Junior, Haley Flaherty was not thrilled with his performance.
Haley was let down because she “was waiting for Justin Bieber…but he never showed up.”
Usher was the individual that “discovered” Bieber and basically jump started his career. Across social media, many assumed that Bieber would be a guest during this performance. The speculation later caused many to be disappointed in the show.
Many people disliked the performance but Mr. Walsh disagrees.
Mr. Walsh believes that the show “was fantastic” and thinks kids our age don’t like it because they weren’t really around for his peak. This supports the reason why many students at BHS were uninterested in his performance.
Mr. Malossi agrees with Mr. Walsh because he was impressed that his “boy” Usher was “singing for real” because “hardly anyone” does that in these kinds of shows.
Whose half-time performance was better? Usher or Rihanna?
There is a strong debate with the The Eagle’s Cry writers on this topic. Overall, Usher’s performance was better but Rihanna’s music is superb. Rihanna could’ve done better, but her music just made her performance much better.
Mr. Malossi “likes Usher’s better” and it is clear why.
He explains,“I liked it in that he was dancing and singing. Hardly anyone sings for real on those shows, so that’s what I liked about my boy, Usher.”
Overall we think Usher had a great performance and we can’t wait for next year!
