WARNING: Opinion
The new FNAF movie was pretty interesting to say the least. We must say though, it was weird when halfway into the movie, evil animatronics started building a fort with the main characters. The movie stars the main character, Mike Schmidt, who is played by Josh Hutcherson, who most young adults and teens remember from the Hunger Games series.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, FNAF or Five Nights at Freddy’s is a popular horror video game series. In the game, the player is a night employee at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, which is a fictional children’s pizzeria. In the restaurant, there are animatronics that have been possessed by the spirits of the children who were actually murdered by the restaurant’s co-founder. The main goal of the game is to stay alive until 6:00 am without being caught by the animatronics for five continuous nights.
The story starts off with the opening of the original Fredbear’s Family Diner. Some fans speculate that the diner opened in or around 1973, but the date is overall unknown. Henry Emily and William Afton were the original owners and founders of Fredbear’s Family Diner. As their business grew, Henry and William created two “spring lock” suits, which were designed to double as both mascot costumes and animatronics.
I think everyone knows what happened when the spring locks got too faulty. For everyone who doesn’t know, sit tight.
Henry and William founded Fazbear Entertainment and produced a popular line of toys featuring characters from their new hit cartoon, Fredbear & Friends. A few years later, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza was opened, featuring brand new animatronics, including Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. With the grand opening of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, William Afton opened a sister location known as Circus Baby’s Pizza World. After the infamous (First) Missing Children’s Incident, Henry Emily created a Security Puppet animatronic to protect his daughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Emily, while he couldn’t watch over her in Fredbear’s Family Diner. Unfortunately, some cruel pranksters locked Charlie out of the diner in the rain one fateful night, allowing William Afton to drive up and murder her in the alley outside before making a quick getaway. For a quick summary of the rest, the bite of ‘83 was soon after, in which the Crying Child’s tears activated the animatronic’s spring locks, causing it to bite down and crush his skull, and the same happens to Michael Afton in which he gets stabbed literally everywhere by fault spring locks, still managing to “come back”. The rest of the story is too long to explain in a singular article, but that’s everything you need to know to understand our opinions on the newest movie.
Going back to the review part of this article, the main character’s sister, Abby, has to be the most frustrating character in the movie. At the end of the movie, she had the audacity to ask Mike if she could visit her “friends”, the animatronics, after they literally kidnapped and tried to kill her and her brother.
When asked for her opinion, sophomore Leana Sciame “liked the actresses, not much the actors, but it was good.” Another 10th grader, Michaela Perillo said, “I really liked the movie, that police officer, Vanessa, was a really good character. I really enjoyed it and I thought the animaltronics were so cool.”
If you grew up with the FNAF games, I recommend you to go watch the movie. To be honest, the movie is silly, but it’s a nice way to relive your childhood.
