BHS Brings in Alum Michael Menz for a Special Presentation on Welding

On October 31, 2023, Mr. Miller’s Home Improvement and Repair class received a visit from a special guest: Michael Menz, a 2022 graduate of Bethpage High School. Mr. Menz is studying to be a welder at Ohio Technical College. Home improvement is a new class this year which teaches students basic skills to improve their home such as electric wiring, tool use, and of course welding.

Joe Ellinger, a junior and Home Improvement and Repair student, loved the visit.

He said, “It was very fascinating and it helped expand my interest into improving homes and was a gateway to looking into different jobs.”

Another Home Improvement and Repair student, shared, “It was really fun and a good experience, especially since Home Improvement is a new class and welding wasn’t part of the curriculum so it was super cool that Mr. Menz could come in.”

When building your schedule for next school year, consider adding Home Improvement as an elective to join in gaining real life experience.
