The 2023 Yankees. The team that went from World Series talks to missing the postseason. From injuries, to offensive struggles, to ejection after ejection for manager Aaron Boone, the Yankees have seen it all this season. Well, all but the postseason, as after their 7-1 loss to their Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday, they were eliminated from playoff contention.
After an extremely disappointing season from the bombers, What are BHS’s biggest complaints with the 2023 Yankees? Leave it to The Eagles Cry to find out!
One of the Yankees biggest issues this season was injuries. Captain Aaron Judge, SP Carlos Rodon, SP Nestor Cortes Jr, 1B Anthony Rizzo, just to name a few, but almost every rostered Yankee had a stint on the IL this season. Because of this many fans are calling for a change in the training staff. Senior James Mertz, a Mets fan, sees the Yankee fans’ anger with their training staff. He said, “They get hurt every year, they need to fix that. Every year they have a great team and then the injuries come and it all falls apart.”
Another flaw this season was the Yankees front office refusing to make the necessary changes to improve the team. From going into the season with no left fielder, to doing absolutely nothing at the trade deadline it is clear why fans are frustrated with the front office. Most notably, general manager, Brian Cashman. Junior Nora Kerrigan said, “Cashman has been with the Yankees for a long time, and they haven’t won a world series in years. It’s time for a change in the general manager position.”
Lastly the players, so many of them have had down years this season. Fans believe that million dollar contracts should come with million dollar results, and unfortunately for Yankees like Giancarlo Stanton and Carlos Rodon, this was not the case. With players struggling to produce it has a direct effect on the Yankees overall results and that causes fans to become angry with these please. Eva Neamonitis, a casual Mets fan said, “They have been disappointing for their fans this season. They better turn it around next year.”
With reasons like these three it’s clear why Yankee fans are frustrated with their team. Unfortunately, for fans, their complaints have no actual effect on the team so it is all down to hope that the Yankees make the necessary changes going into the 2024 season to get the world’s most historic organization back on track.
