NFL PREDICTIONS WITH ACKERLY & MERTZ: WEEK THIRTEEN

Howdy Bethpage, hope you all had a great turkey day and weekend. Of course, as mentioned in Mertz and I’s Thanksgiving special, we were taking the weekend off. But fear not, we are back and ready to lay out our predictions for week 13 of the NFL season. First however, we have to recap week 11 and the Thanksgiving games to see where the season totals stand.

Week 11

The thanksgiving special made us do away with the week 11 recap, so let’s do it now. Ignoring the spotlight games, Mertz finished week 11 with a stellar record of 10-4, I wasn’t too shabby either with a record of 9-5. Solid across the board in terms of week 11.

Now how about we take a look at the thanksgiving special predictions.

Thanksgiving Special

BRING OUT THE BROOMS…I got myself a sweep this past holiday. I was correct in picking all three of the Thanksgiving matchups while Mertz did not have the same fortune. I went 3-0, Mertzy went 1-2.

Total Results

With the recaps finished this brings our yearly totals to

79-39 and 74-44, continuing Mertz’s reign.

Week 13

Now that we are all caught up, it is time to give our predictions for week 13 of the NFL.

Mertz, start us off kid.

Mertz’s Lock Of The Week

3 months ago in training camp newly acquired quarterback of the Denver Broncos, Russell Wilson addressed the team’s fan base aka “Broncos Country” by saying “Let’s ride” to get fans pumped up for the season. Since that point, Wilson has led the Broncos to a 3-8 record and statistically the worst offense in the league. This week they travel cross country to face the Baltimore Ravens who are a substantially better football team. I don’t know how much Broncos country will be riding after they get boat races yet again this time to Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.

Mertz’s Upset Alert!

The Eagles of Philadelphia have been flying high all season to a 10-1 record which stands best in the league. But this week they’re gonna be hitting a little bit of turbulence on the flight as the Tennessee Titans and the best running back in the league Derrick Henry, come to town. The Titans (with a backup quarterback) gave the Chiefs a run for their money a few weeks ago on Sunday night Football. I expect them to finally pull through in a big spot knocking off the top seeded Eagles.

Ackerly’s Lock Of The Week

Ladies and gents this is the moment you’ve waited for. Deshaun Watson has returned after about a million accusations, avoiding all of them. And just like those accusations Watson is going to be evading the Texans defense all game long. It’s perfect that Deshaun gets a crack at his former team and with the Houston Texans being so bad there is no doubt Watson will look like his old self again. The Browns offense is now absolutely elite with Amari Cooper, David Njoku, DPJ, an outstanding offensive line, a top 1 running back in Nicholas Jamaal, and Deshaun Watson. If the Browns can win out, they could make a dark-horse run in the playoffs. I am a firm believer in the Cleveland Browns. Watch out AFC, Deshaun is coming.

Ackerly’s Upset Alert!

Week eight of last season, the legend of Mike White was born. Week 12 of this season, the legend is reborn. Formerly the third string quarterback of the New York Jets, White had an outrageous 315 yards and three touchdowns last week against the Chicago Bears. Mike White is him, and he is here. Facing the Minnesota Vikings this week I have a feeling the fairytale of White is not done yet. The New York football Jets sit at 7-4, one of their best seasons to date. With a victory this week their unlikely quest to the top of the AFC East will continue.
