NFL Weekly Predictions with Ackerly and Mertz – WEEK 4

Good morning, afternoon, evening or whenever you are reading this article. Welcome to the first edition of NFL Weekly Predictions with myself and fellow writer for The Eagle’s Cry, James Mertz. Now I know, it’s week 4, and Thursday night has come and gone. However, cut me some slack. I was tardy to The Eagle’s Cry party, and I became a writer here a little late.

Nevertheless, that will not prevent me from testing my football knowledge in front of all of you who choose to read my articles. Starting this Sunday, week 4 of the NFL season I will be competing with James Mertz and seeing which one of us can better predict the weekly outcomes of the NFL games. No spreads, no gimmicks, just 2 sports writers going head to head. Let’s get it started.

Mertz, you’re up first:

Mertz’s Lock Of The Week

  • Detroit Lions beat the Seattle Seahawks. The Lions are the type of team that beat the bad team and lose to the good teams. In this case they are playing a very bad team and they’re at home. Even without two of their top offensive weapons Amon- Ra St. Brown and D’andre Swift, Lions in a rout.

Mertz’s Upset Alert!

  • Atlanta Falcons upset the Cleveland Browns. The Falcons have played very close games and they only won one of them. They seem to be very frisky with a very underrated offense that can knock off the Myles Garrett less Browns defense. Plus they got the best kicker in the league Younghoe KOO.

The Rest of Mertz’s Picks

  • Minnesota Vikings def. New Orleans Saints
  • Los Angeles Chargers def. Houston Texans
  • New York Giants def. Chicago Bears
  • Detroit Lions def. Seattle Seahawks
  • Philadelphia Eagles def. Jacksonville Jaguars
  • New York Jets def. Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Tennessee Titans def. Indianapolis Colts
  • Washington Commanders def. Dallas Cowboys
  • Buffalo Bills def. Baltimore Ravens
  • Carolina Panthers def. Arizona Cardinals
  • Las Vegas Raiders def. Denver Broncos
  • Green Bay Packers def. New England Patriots
  • Kansas City Chiefs def. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • San Francisco 49ers def. Los Angeles Rams

Now that we got Mertz’s picks out of the way, it’s my turn.

Ackerly’s Lock Of The Week

  • Call me a homer, biased, or any of those terms to describe someone who picks their own team. I don’t care, there isn’t a doubt in my mind that the Green Bay Packers will take down the Patriots on Sunday. A banged up Mac Jones coupled with a Packers defense that has been red hot these past 2 weeks spells disaster for New England and ensures the cheeseheads will get it done at home this Sunday.

Ackerly’s Upset Alert!

  • We saw the first crack in the Bills kingdom last week following their loss to the Dolphins. Will they get back on track against Lamar and his Ravens? I think not. “Lamarevlous” Jackson, as he has been through the first three weeks of the NFL season continues to power the Baltimore Ravens offense. I think that electricity runs straight through the Bills this week as the Ravens upset the Bills.

The Rest of Ackerly’s Picks

  • Minnesota Vikings def. New Orleans Saints
  • Los Angeles Chargers def. Houston Texans
  • New York Giants def. Chicago Bears
  • Detroit Lions def. Seattle Seahawks
  • Philadelphia Eagles def. Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Pittsburgh Steelers def. New York Jets
  • Cleveland Browns def. Atlanta Falcons
  • Indianapolis Colts def. Tennessee Titans
  • Dallas Cowboys def. Washington Commanders
  • Arizona Cardinals def. Carolina Panthers
  • Las Vegas Raiders def. Denver Broncos
  • Kansas City Chiefs def. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Los Angeles Rams def. San Francisco 49ers
