ALMOST MAINE

Almost, Maine: a Review

Bethpage High School’s Masquers Guild recently put on their rendition of Almost, Maine, a play following several different couples in the small town of Almost, Maine.  Each scene of the play follows a different couple, each with a unique story.

What makes this play so unique is its structure.  According to senior Katelyn Villatoro, who plays Deena, “Our play was separated into 9 different skits, each containing just two people, so we were all leads of our very own scene…I loved every second of it.”

The distinct setup of this play also seemed to resonate well with the audience.  “Everybody did an outstanding job this year,” beamed senior Mimi Szkutnik, who also commented on the set design.  “The sets were insanely detailed, and it truly felt like you were in Maine.”

This was one of my favorite plays put on by the Masquers’ Guild.  It was funny, heartfelt, and exciting to watch; each new scene brought with it its own energy and feeling.  Although each scene was distinct, the play itself still felt cohesive.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Almost, Maine, for a job well done!
