Bethpage’s Very Own Ironman: Ms. Treadwell
On September 27, 2015, Bethpage’s very own Ms. Treadwell competed in the Ironman Race in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her race included a 2.4-mile swim, a 116-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run, which is the longest Ironman Race ever held.
Ms. Treadwell hired a coach and trained six days a week, every week, since last March. She trained in swimming, biking and running. I asked her about how she felt when she reached the 10th hour of the race, and Ms. Treadwell said, “I still felt excited, exhilarated, and energetic, but it was also hard because I kept hearing people announce that others were finishing, and I still had about 20 miles to run.”
Ms. Treadwell is extremely satisfied with the way she performed in the race. She said, “For the first time I’ve run a race like this, I am absolutely proud of myself and the way I performed.” She has signed up for another Ironman Race on August 21, 2016 in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada.
Ms. Treadwell completed her swimming portion of the race in 1:16:20, her biking portion in 7:49:27, and her running portion in 5:42:23. She completed the race with an overall time of 15:00:28.
Ironman Races take place all over the world, and there are many races where you can compete. Even kids can compete in them.
From all of us at The Eagle’s Cry: Congratulations, Ms. Treadwell and good luck in your next race.
