Today is BHS’s World Autism Awareness Day (Actually April 2nd)

“WEAR BLUE ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 1ST to kick off AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH!”  You may or may not have seen the posters, but around the school are posters asking students to wear blue on April 1st because we will not be having school on April 2nd.  On Thursday April 2nd, it is World Autism Awareness Day.  Every year, autism organizations around the world celebrate the day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events.

BHS social studies teacher Mr. Sagistano started the movement at our school, along with Ms. Lucchesi and Ms. Moscola, asking students and faculty to wear blue shirts for autism awareness.  All proceeds were donated to Nassau/Suffolk Chapter- Autism Society of America (NSASA).
