This winter it’s hard to avoid the common cold; with weather dropping as low as 5°, it seems like everyone is catching some illness. Here are a few tips on how to stay healthy this time of year:
Practicing good hygiene is one of the most important ways to avoid getting sick. Washing your hands frequently, especially before you eat, will help keep germs from spreading. Cough and sneeze into your elbow so you don’t contaminate the air around you. One of the easiest ways to spread germs is by accidentally infecting those around you through the air.
Mrs Oak, Spanish teacher at BHS and loving mother, says “before [her daughter Kiera] eats anything she has to eat something healthy.” Maintaining a healthy diet will help strengthen your immune system. Ginger tea and green tea
Getting the flu shot is also important, but it may not always work. BHS student, Olivia Solomon, says “I got the flu shot back in November, and I ended up getting the flu. But if I didn’t get the flu shot, it would have been longer and worse.”
